Interview Guides help you prepare for customer interviews by organizing hypotheses to test and questions to ask into a structured, reorderable plan.

Creating a guide

  1. Navigate to a persona’s Interview Prep tab (or click Prepare from the Discovery Journey diagram)
  2. Click New Guide
  3. Enter a name (2–100 characters) and optional description
  4. Select hypotheses to test during the interview — optionally add prep notes for each
  5. Add guide items — either questions from your catalog or custom free-text notes
  6. Reorder items by dragging them into your preferred sequence
  7. Click Save
Each guide is scoped to a specific persona, ensuring your questions are targeted.

Guide items

Guides contain two types of items:
TypeSourceDescription
Catalog questionFrom the Question LibraryA question pulled from your workspace or system catalog
Custom noteFree textYour own notes, prompts, or follow-up reminders
Items can be freely reordered with drag-and-drop to create the flow you want.

AI-suggested questions

While building a guide, click Suggest Questions to have AI generate interview questions based on:
  • The selected persona’s context
  • The hypotheses you’re testing
  • Your project’s problem statement
Each suggestion includes the question, a rationale for why it’s relevant, and a category. You can:
  • Add to catalog — Save it to your Question Library and add it to the guide
  • Add as note — Insert it as a custom note item in the guide

Using a guide

Open any guide to view it in read-only mode. The view includes:
  • Guide name and description
  • Selected hypotheses with prep notes
  • Ordered list of questions and notes
Click Print to generate a printer-friendly version using the browser’s print dialog.

Managing guides

  • Duplicate — Create a copy of an existing guide to use as a starting point
  • Edit — Modify hypotheses, items, or ordering at any time
  • Delete — Remove a guide permanently (requires confirmation)
Guides appear on the persona’s Interview Prep tab and can also be accessed from the project’s guide list.
